Dr. Horwitz was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. He attended Penn State University, followed by vet school at the University of Pennsylvania. Immediately upon graduation, Dr. Horwitz joined the United States Army where he became the Officer-in-Charge of the veterinary clinic in Vietnam. After that, he served with the US Navy Preventative Medicine Unit in Da Nang. where he became the Officer-in-Charge of the veterinary clinic. After that, he served with the US Navy Preventative Medicine Unit in Da Nang, Vietnam.
After the Army, Dr. Horwitz went back to the veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania for his Post-Doctoral work in Clinical and Research Dermatology. In 1972, Dr. Horwitz opened his own veterinary practice in Ft. Washington – this practice became the Fort Washington Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Horwitz & his wife have two children and 3 grandchildren. Dr. Horwitz is very active in the community as well as an avid exercise fan. In what little spare time he can find, he loves to read, spend time with his grandchildren, travel (he has even been back to Vietnam), and eat at every restaurant located in the Philadelphia area.
